Assisting Vulnerable Persons : Tons Of Rice Offered

The food items were received in Douala on June 8, 2023.
For the next three months, needy IDPs and refugees in Cameroon and Central African Republic will have enough foodstuff to feed their families. In effect, over 11,000 metric tons of food commodities, donated by the United States government through USAID, arrived at the Douala seaport to support households most affected by food insecurity in Cameroon. As a result, officials of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) were in Douala on June 8, 2023 to receive the 11,214 MT of rice (2.2 million bags of 50 kilos each) to be distributed to populations living in the regions most affected by food insecurity in Cameroon, including those affected by the crises in the Far North, North West and South West, and refugees from the Central African Republic in the East Region.
The food which was made possible through funding from the United States Government through USAID, and its partner, WFP, is to help combat food insecurity in Cameroon and the Central African Republic. While at the Douala seaport, the Director of WFP in Cameroon, Wanja Kaaria appreciated the Cameroon government for their support in reaching the vulnerable people.
