Obituary : John Fru Ndi Dies At 82

The usual SDF flag that flies at the Yaounde residence (Nkolfoulou neighbourhood) of the now former National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), John Fru Ndi was nowhere to be found on June 13, 2023. The gates were opened, police officers at the entrance, but no voices heard inside the house. Not that they are no people, there are, so many, but all in a mourning mood. Even the usual domestic animals that are always noisy especially at the sight of a guest were calm. Total quietness. Everyone still in disbelieve to accept the news of the passing into eternity of the National Chairman on June 12, 2023 at 11:30pm in his sleep after a prolonged illness at the age of 82, as stated by the First Vice President of the party, Hon. Joshua Osih. The deceased, as we gathered was evacuated to Geneva for medical attention on May 29, 2023 and returned on June 3, 2023 with a medical team that administered his medication till his death. He is said to have died peacefully in the presence of all of his children. With the news confirmed, officials of various political parties, diplomatic corps, the public and private sector, visited to condole with the family. More emotionally is the corner of the house fixed to pay tributes. The condolence book opened and two candles burning at the side of an enlarged picture of the “Power to the people” man in his North West traditional attire. No music in the background. Just a moment of solemnity and respect for the memories of the Chairman.
