“It Has Been A Fantastic Year”

How specific is this year’s National Day celebrations in terms of US-Cameroon relations?

We are very happy to be hosting our National Day Celebrations at the US Embassy Residence in Yaounde. This is the 247th anniversary of America’s independence and we are almost at 250 years as a country. In terms of cooperation between US and Cameroon, I would say it has been a fantastic year. We are really happy that President Paul Biya went to Washington DC in December 2022 for the US-Africa Leader’s Summit and there has been a lot of other good points of cooperation.

There are so many areas of cooperation between the USA and Cameroon. What particularly are you doing in the areas of health and humanitarian assistance?

In health which is our biggest area of cooperation, we have millions upon millions of dollars of cooperation with Cameroon in HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, food and in the lingering issues concerning Covid19 pandemic and food security. We have good collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, hospitals and Cameroonian NGOs.
