Bamenda Barbaric Murder : Investigation Ongoing To Uncover Culprits

North West Regional Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique has on behalf of the President of the Republic extended heartfelt condolences to bereaved families.
Shock, consternation and a high wave of condemnations are still rife in the North West Regional capital, Bamenda and across the region following the macabre murder of 10 people and two wounded in the Nacho Junction neighbourhood in Bamenda II Subdivision (Nkwen) on Sunday July 16, 2023.
Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique in a press release stated that at about 7:00 pm on July 16, 2023, a group of armed terrorists in unidentified vehicles invaded the Awing neighbourhood and kidnapped peace-loving citizens who were taken to Nacho Junction in Bamenda II Subdivision and executed indiscriminately alongside other persons who were going about their normal business around that junction. As to the casualty situation, the Governor in the press release said 10 people died. Seven of them were men and three women while two were wounded. Talking to the press during the start of the Regional Governors’ conference in Yaounde on July 17, 2023 Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique specified that eight of the victims died on the spot, two in the hospital. He said among the two wounded persons rushed to the Bamenda Regional Hospital, one had already been discharged and the other one undergoing medical care.
While calling on the population to remain calm, vigilant and to collaborate with the authorities and forces, the Governor disclosed that on the high instructions of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, investigations have been opened to track down and hand the authors of the criminal acts to competent courts.
