A training workshop for social workers of the Ministry of Defence on gender-based violence and management of the survivors held yesterday September 27, 2023 in Yaounde.

In the face of security challenges in the country, social workers are being trained on minimising gender based violence and the management of survivors. To this effect, a training workshop that brought together social workers of the Ministry of Defence was organised in Yaounde on September 27, 2023. The Ministries of Defence, Justice, and Women’s Empowerment and the Promotion of the Family are the three principal government partners, with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as an international and technical collaborator. The training workshop was presided at, on behalf of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, by the Technical Adviser, Prof. Alain Didier Olinga, who noted that the initiative is an indication of government’s determination to address gender-based violence.
According to him, gender-based violence has enormous consequences on the human, social and economic growth plan of a country, reason the Ministry of Defence is effectively involved in the fight against the phenomenon and taking care of survivors. The Technical Adviser added that they are involved in every phase of eradicating the ill, beginning from prevention to repression.
