Cameroon-Asian Relations : Path Covered, Prospects Evaluated

A scientific conference that held at the Ministry of External Relations yesterday November 28,2023 highlighted possible cooperation mechanisms.


Within the framework of the first edition of the Cameroon/Asian Friendship Week holding in Yaounde for three days (November 27-29, 2023), a scientific conference was organised at the Ministry of External Relations yesterday November 28, 2023 to evaluate the path covered and project potential cooperation areas. The scientific conference on the theme, “Partnership between Cameroon and Asian countries: Multiple contributions to the economic development of Cameroon,” was chaired by the acting Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations, Edmond Gervais Bindzi Edzimbi on behalf of the Minister, and in the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon, Nozomu Takaoka. The Ambassador did a presentation on Asian mechanisms, experiences and achievements in Cameroon within the framework of cooperation for development.
In his opening address, Edmond Gervais Bindzi Edzimbi noted that the objective of the scientific conference was to celebrate cooperation ties which have been mutually beneficial. Reiterating that Cameroon has always opted for peace and prosperity through individual and collective efforts, partnering with Asian countries to attain its National Development Strategy (SND 30) goals is of utmost importance. Bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Asian countries, the Minister Plenipotentiary said, enables Cameroon effectively attain development objectives. “The conference gives an opportunity to academicians and other stakeholders to analyse assets and perspectives in line with reinforcing friendship,” he stated.
