North West : Regional Assembly, UNDP Distribute Gifts

The North West Regional Assembly has once more respected its tradition of organizing end-of-year gifts and donation ceremony with the 2023 edition held on Friday December 15, 2023 on the theme, “Gifts of hope and unity.” The Vice President of the North West Regional Executive Council, His Royal Majesty Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih who doubles as the President of the House of Chiefs presided at the ceremony at the esplanade of the Mezam Senior Divisional Office on behalf of the President of the North West Regional Assembly, Prof. Fru Angwafo III.  The ceremony organised in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) took place under the watchful eyes of the Inspector General at the North West Regional Governor’s Office, Saidou Moussa who represented Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique.  “Through this event, the distribution of gifts aims to promote a culture of harmonious coexistence and the need for social cohesion. These elements are vital if we are to harbour hope and unity among other people,” Fon Yakum Kevin explained.
Specifically, the gifts from the Regional Assembly distributed to 500 people included blankets, rice, salt, soap, Maggi cubes, sugar, buckets, and more.  The beneficiaries, Fon Yakum Kevin said were identified from among the elderly individuals, single mothers, internally displaced persons and students.  In general, the Regional Assembly handed gifts to 100 elderly persons, 100 single mothers and 300 internally displaced persons.
