West : Regional Council Adopts 2024 Budget

An amount of five billion 151 million has been adopted by the West Regional Council as the budget for the 2024 financial year. This was during an ordinary session of the institution presided at by its President, Dr.Hilaire  Focka Focka, in Bafoussam on December 27, 2023. The adopted amount which is balanced in income and expenditure, withnesses a decrease of FCFA 850.000.000 representing, 16.7 per cent, as compared to last year 2023, budget that was slightly above FCFA six billion.
Presenting the draft budget during the Regional Council’s ordinary session, Dr. Jules Hilaire Focka  Focka, disclosed that the drop in the budget was necessitated by certain economic and administrative setups. Deliberations during the ordinary session took place in the presence of the West Regional Governor, Awa Fonka Augustine, representative of the State.
Addressing the Council at the beginning of deliberations, the President expressed satisfaction that most of the projects earmarked for the 2023 financial year were realised. He cited the construction of the Regional Council Head Office, and several other construction works completed in the region, that were listed in the development programme. For example, he said the Regional Council carried out renovation work at the Dschang annex regional hospital, with the emergency ward completely renovated.
