The Yamoussoukro 20,000 capacity stadium forms part of the city’s monumental architecture.
The newly-constructed Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro is the pride of the people of Côte d’Ivoire. The stadium is located in the capital of Côte d’Ivoire and it is one of the venues chosen for the AFCON matches. Yamoussoukro is constantly busy with economic activities and the new stadium forms part of the city’s monumental architecture. The stadium will add to the city’s economic hub of activity even after the tournament. Construction works on the stadium were launched in October 2018 and was handed over to the municipality of Yamoussoukro in June 2021.
After the two-year construction, the stadium hosted its first football match on June 3, 2023 which served as a qualifier to the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d’Ivoire finals as the hosts edged Zambia 3-1 at the grand open...
