“There Is Also Peer Teaching Within The Bilingual Club”

The pilot linguistic centre just graduated some 150 trainees. What goes into the training programme of the institution?
First of all, we train those who want to learn one of our two official languages, English or French. We use the course book, the video and information and communication technologies to teach. We mix local material and international realities. We organise debates, classroom discussions, individual presentations and pair work to enhance fluency. There is also peer teaching within the Bilingual Club for further oral communication.  
How is the intake done?
We enrol everybody; young and old, job-seekers and those who are employed, Cameroonians and foreigners. There is no file to submit. After a placement test, if you have an Identity Card or a Passport, you can pay your tuition fees.   
What other measures are being put in place by your institution to ensure the promotion of bilingualism?
We have online courses (e-learning). We teach offsite, that is, in people’s houses and offices. Some annex centres have already been opened in Yaounde (Biyem-assi), Centre Region, Douala (Kotto), Littoral Region and Limbe, South West Region. We have s...
