United Nations Human Rights Council : Cameroon Presents Strides, Prospects

External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella read Cameroon’s statement at the high-level meeting that ended yesterday February 27, 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland.


Cameroon participated at the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council which held in Geneva. Deliberations which started February 26, 2024 and were chaired by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres. External Relations Minister, led the Cameroonian delegation at the elite gathering where he read the country’s statement.
In the statement, Minister Mbella Mbella said Cameroon, for its part, is committed, under the leadership of the Head of State, Paul Biya, to continue to work actively in international dialogue to find and implement concerted solutions to the complex challenges facing the world, especially in the promotion and protection of human rights. He added that Cameroon reaffirms its commitment to democracy, the rule of law and social inclusion. “We firmly believe that the socio-cultural, religious and linguistic diversity that characterizes our Nation is a richness that deserves to be preserved and enhanced. This is the motivation of the commitment of the Head of State, to find lasting solutions to the socio-political crisis in the North-West and South-West Regions, in order to maintain a united and indivisible Cameroon, rich in its diversity,” the Minister stated. Minister Mbella Mbella also used the opportunity to thank bilateral and multilateral partners, who support Cameroon in the effort to preserve and restore peace and national unity.
