UN Security Council Membership : Denmark Solicits Cameroon’s Support

The Special Representative for the candidacy of Denmark for 2025-2026 was received at the Ministry of External Relations on March 5, 2024.

The Kingdom of Denmark seeks to be elected into the Security Council of the United Nations as non-permanent member for the 2025-2026 period. It is against this backdrop that the Special Representative for the candidacy of Denmark, Holger Nielsen was received in audience by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu on March 5, 2024. 
Holger Nielsen of Denmark in his statement to the press said he discussed international issues with Minister Mbayu. “Denmark is a candidate for the Security Council of the United Nations and we hope that we could get the support of Cameroon. We are therefore visiting Cameroon to also listen to them and hear what they want us to do in the Security Council. Denmark and Cameroon are two countries that have a common interest in maintaining international law and order. We will support each other in this perspective,” Holger Nielsen said. The Danish statesman added that he was very impressed with the political analysis as well as the policies of Cameroon as presented by Minister Felix Mbayu. “As he (referring to Minister Mbayu) rightly said, Cameroon is the heart of Central Africa and it is a very important country for Denmark to have close relations with,” he explained.
