Commonwealth Day : Cameroon Pledges More Resilience

The 2024 edition of the Commonwealth Day has been commemorated at the Ministry of External Relations, amongst which featured the reading of the King’s message. In Cameroon, week-long activities centred around reinforcing resilience of the economy, as highlighted in this year’s theme, “One Resilient Common Future.” Activities to commemorate the day were chaired by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, under the authority of the Minister of External Relations Mbella Mbella and in the presence of some members of government, High Commissioners of Commonwealth Member States, legislators and members of civil society organisations. 
In his keynote, Minister Felix Mbayu said resilience has been a hallmark of the Cameroonian people, and a testament to the ability of being able to thrive in the face of national and international challenges. “The theme for this year encapsulates the essence of our collective journey towards a future that is not only intertwined, but also resilient in the face of challenges. As we navigate the complexities of our modern world, the Commonwealth of nations, united by a rich tapestry of cultures and histories, stand together to overcome adversity and shape a future that benefits us all. According to the Minister, collaboration and mutual support amongst member countries have enabled them to rise above adversities when faced with economic uncertainties, public health crises, security and environmental challenges.
