Tropical Agriculture : Further Transforming Food System Discussed

This was during an audience the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella granted to the Director General of the International Institute of Tropical Agricultures, yesterday March 19, 2024.
Promoting agricultural development in Cameroon occupies centre stage in the import-substitution policy of government and the National Development Strategy (NDS30). As a result, government continues mobilising resources and exchanging ideas to this effect. It is against this background that the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella yesterday March 19, 2024 granted an audience to the Director General of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Dr. Simeon Ehui. Besides discussing the improvement of cooperation ties between the two parties, they also examined further transformation of the food system in Cameroon to guarantee sustainable development. “The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture has had a long-term relationship with Cameroon for over 50 years. We came here on a courtesy call to the Minister of External Relations to thank the government of Cameroon for the support that it has been providing to the institute and also discuss with government, opportunities to further transforming the food system in Cameroon, create jobs and help the women and the youths to be more competitive internationally,” he stated. The Director General added that they have received a warm welcome from authorities and look further to strengthening cooperation with the government of Cameroon.
