Senate : Nine General Committees Put In Place

This was during a plenary sitting chaired by the First Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye, on March 26, 2024.
Various committees of the Senate have been put in place. The names of Senators and their respective committees were read out during a plenary sitting chaired by the Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye, on March 26, 2024. A total of nine general committees were put in place and after the plenary siting, the committee members met to designate their Presidents. This is in accordance with Articles 21 and 22 of the Standing Orders of the House and all the seven political parties of the Senate are represented in the committees.
The first committee to be put in place was that on Constitutional Laws, Human Rights and Freedoms, Justice, Laws and Regulations and Administration. The Committee has members of three political parties. Amongst its members are Aboubakary Aboulaye, Ndanga Ndinga Badel and Tabetando Ndiebnso, all of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM). There is also Djorwe Paulin of the Movement for the Defence of the Republic (MDR), and Ngayap Pierre Flambeau of the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP).
Second to be put in place is the Committee on Finance and the Budget. It comprises 19 members from two political parties. Prominent amongst its members are Mbombo Njoya Seidou, Enwe Francis Abi, and Zango Oyon Calvin, all of the CPDM. Vanigansen Mochiggle of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), Vice President of the Bureau of the Senate, is equally a member of the Committee. Then followed the putting in place of the Foreign Affairs Committee which also has 19 members, and made up of legislators from two political parties. Leke Besongoh Akemfor Philip of the Union of Peoples of Cameroon (UPC) is a member.
The fourth committee to be put in place was the Committee on National Defence and Security. It has 17 members of two political parties. After that came the putting in place of the Committee on Education, Vocational Training and Youth. A total of 19 Senators from three politi...
