Nkambe, Kumbo Councils : North West PIC Encourages, Calls For Improvement

The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region, Tamfu Simon Fai rounded off his sensitisation visits to Councils in the area last weekend.
The Nkambe and Kumbo local Councils in Donga Mantung and Bui Divisions respectively are expected to henceforth deliver better services to users and the beneficiary local population. This follows the sensitisation visits of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region Tamfu Simon Fai undertook to the Nkambe Council on April 19, 2024 and to the Kumbo Council the following day on April 20, 2024.
Both in Nkambe and Kumbo, the Public Independent Conciliator, Tamfu Simon Fai and two Research Officers in the Office of the PIC; Dr Alfred Wuku Kudi and Dr Tilarious Atia did presentations aimed at enabling the Councils play their effective roles as local development catalysts. The presentations included the “The Public Independent Conciliator: creation, mission and functioning, the functioning of Regions and Councils; the Law and Practice and; the Complaint Management Procedure.”
At the end of reflections and with all parties having understood their rights and obligations, more harmonious development is expected in the two municipalities. What the Council officials and the local development stakeholders took home as a basis for future actions were the performance report cards of the Nkambe and Kumbo Councils. The performance is contained in the 2023 Annual Report of the PIC.
Mr Tamfu Simon Fai in the case of Nkambe Council said, “The report card of Nkambe compared to other councils in the North West Region is about excellent. They have been doing very well in participation, project involvement of everybody, respect of rights and generally good governance.” However, he said improvement has to b...
