National Day Preparations : Buea To Ward Off Security Challenges
No stone is being left unturned in Buea ahead of the national unity day.
The enthusiasm surrounding the national unity day (20 May, 2024) is undoubted in the South West Regional capital of Buea. Pupils, students and social groups are being mobilized for a show of patriotism, dedication and engagement.
Activities for the D-day have been planned in Buea to be preceded by a generalized clean-up campaign in all chiefdoms and agglomerations of Buea on 17 May, 2024. On the eve of the event, say 19 May, there will be a patriotic walk in the city of Buea as a prelude to the multi-sectorial mobilisation towards the ceremonial ground, which is the Bongo Square or Clerks Quarters Grand Stand. There, Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai will alight from his official car in ceremonial suit to kick off activities of the day.
March past is high on the day’s agenda with primary, secondary and higher institutions exhibiting their organizational abilities and a show of discipline. The schools, professional bodies, political parties, social groups, the Police, the Military and ex-service men and women shall stretch out their feet in marching orders. All of the display as usual will thrill the thousands of on-lookers to make the day a memorable one.
