Voter Registration : Elite Lead Campaign In Fako

In a spirited effort to combat voter apathy and encourage active participation in the democratic process, the New Generation Elite of Fako Division have launched a robust campaign.

Some elite of Fako Division dubbed the New Generation Elite last Saturday, May 4, 2024, launched a voter registration campaign at Buea’s Pala Pala Field area to register Cameroonian youths for up-coming elections. The campaign was to empower citizens, especially young people who shy away from political activities. It urged youths to take charge of their civic duty ahead of the 2025 political determinations.
Targeting over 500 youths to be registered for the 2025 election year, the campaign seeks to include youths in the democratic processes, thereby engaging them in building an inclusive community to propel sustainable development.
Edifying the youths on the relevance of voter registration, Aka Wambaki Wa Hvako, one of the organizers, applauded its timing, especially at a time when voter apathy has clouded most youth’s minds while frowning at the youth’s nonchalance to civic duties. He underscored the need for youths to actively participate in democratic processes, reiterating that one vote can change the narrative. He added that the Elite of Fako “recognize that democracy thrives when citizens actively engage in the electoral process. 
With this conviction, we have taken to the streets, community centers, and social media platforms to spread the message: “If you want change, get involved!” Our rallying cry echoes through the hills and valleys of Fako Division and beyond, urging every one of voting age to register and make their voices heard.”
