Museum of National Orders : Embodiment Of State Honours

Medals awarded to nationals and foreigners on Cameroonian soil for services rendered to the nation are displayed in the exhibition hall.

A sense of pride. That is the feeling one gets upon walking into the exhibition hall of the national museum that contains samples of medals being awarded in Cameroon following meritorious services. The beautiful space was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday July 31, 2024 on behalf of the President of the Republic, Grand Master of National Orders. The dual event comprised in the commemoration of the centenary of Cameroonian merit and the inauguration of the Museum of National Orders. 
Every medal of the national orders is placed in a protected glass box, sited on a marble slap. The medals are placed in a hierarchical order and the faint lighting beneath the marble slap makes for a beautiful appreciation of the medal. Upon completing the entrance steps into the exhibition hall, the eyes are presented with six of the most prestigious medals of the National Order of Valour. This category of medals is given to Cameroonians for eminent services to the State in various domains of activity. The first medal a visitor meets is the Grand Cross of the Order of Valour. It is a long red ribbon which is worn across the chest like the official scarf worn by Members of Parliament. It is accompanied by a magnificent star which is affixed on the left side (upper chest) of the body. This is a very prestigious medal and it is awarded to foreign Heads of State on exceptional basis by the President of the Republic, as was the case with the His Most Eminent Highness, Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto who was decorated by President Paul Biya on July 17, 2018 at the Unity Palace.
