South West : Reconstruction On Course

The population who are the principal beneficiaries of the implementation of the PPRD-NW/SW are already harvesting the fruits.

Results of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions (PPRD-NW/SW) are already visible. In the South West Region, the (PPRD-NW/SW) has supported 26 cooperatives for the development of pilot agro-pastoral projects in Mbonge, Mamfe and Muyuka. 20 start-ups in businesses drawn from Kumba 1, Wabane and Bangem municipalities while 10 tech startups in Buea received training and funding from the programme. There is also the rehabilitation of Bangang market in Wabane. There is the construction of solar powered boreholes in Bonabile in Limbe and Bongongo in Ekondo Titi among others. 
The United Nations Development Plan (UNDP) as implementing partner indicated that between 2021 to December 2022, there were 94 projects including schools, health facilities and water points that have either been rehabilitated or constructed to ease access to basic neccesities. The presentation of the projets made in Buea on March 22, 2023, were saluted by Balongeli Confiance Ebune, Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office, who doubles as President of the Steering Committee for the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South Regions (PPRD-NW/SW). In Buea, some of the projects include the reconstruction of the St Martins Dormitory that was set ablaze in 2021, the construction of a 1,100m fence round the school, and a borehole in St Joseph’s College Sasse.
