OIC Council of Foreign Ministers : Deliberations Begin Today In Yaounde

The two-day event holds under the theme: “Development of Intra-OIC Transport and Communication Infrastructure: Major instrument in the fight against poverty and insecurity.”

Curtains open today August 29, 2024 at the Yaounde Conference Centre for the 50th Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It is the first time Cameroon is hosting the august gathering and this year marks the 50th anniversary since the country joined the Organisation. The conference which begins today and ends tomorrow August 30, 2024, holds under the theme: “Development of Intra-OIC Transport and Communication Infrastructure: Major instrument in the fight against poverty and insecurity.” The said theme seeks at promoting close cooperation and affording mutual assistance in the economic, scientific, cultural and spiritual spheres of the 57-member States organisation spread across Africa, Asia, America and Europe. Having joined the institution since June 1974, the high-level gathering which will witness the participation of the Secretary General of OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, will also serve as a showcase of excellent cooperation relations binding Cameroon and the OIC. The brand image of the “land of legendary hospitality” will be equally enhanced.
