CHAN 2024 : Competition Pushed Forward

Initially scheduled in February, the competition will take place in August 2025 according to an announcement by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).


The African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) that was supposed to take place in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in February has been pushed forward to August 2025.  The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the postponement of the event on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. According to CAF, technical and infrastructure experts, some of whom are based in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, have requested additional time to ensure that the facilities are up to the required standards to host the event.
Reports say good progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the successful hosting of competition. CAF Technical and Infrastructure experts some of whom have been based in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, have advised CAF that more time is required to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities are at the levels necessary.
