Post-electoral Climate : Senate Denounces Destruction

While presiding the opening plenary of the November session yesterday, the Senior Vice President, Aboubakary Abdoulaye also saluted the patriotic spirit of Cameroonians thus far.

“I denounce all those who, hiding in the shadows, send young people into the streets to face with bare hands the defense and security forces tasked by the authorities to maintain order. I also denounce the statements of some politicians and other opinion leaders who claim to lead Cameroon, but who, in blatant disregard for the sovereignty and dignity of the Cameroonian people, call for external interference in the country’s internal affairs,” stated the Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye as he chaired the opening sitting of the November session of the House, yesterday November 3, 2025. His remark follows calls by some people for Cameroonians to either take to the streets on some days or stay home on some days as protest to the proclamation of the results of the Presidential election. The situation has unfortunately been met with post-electoral tensions leading to the destruction of public and private property. Going by the legislator, in an election, there is certainly an elected official; but there is neither a winner nor a loser. In his words, it is the people who rather triumph in their quest for peace, unity and stability, which guarantee development. 
Congratulating the President-elect, Paul Biya, the Senior Vice President said he is known for his deep commitment to peace, national unity, and living together, adding that he is convinced that in the days ahead, the President-elect will after the swearing-in take necessary measures to soothe tensions and strengthen social cohesion.
