South West Regional Assembly: Project Execution Improved In 2025

The twin sessions in Buea fromJune 3 to 4, 2026, focused onthe presentation of the State ofthe Region Report by the Governor ofthe South West Region, Bernard OkaliaBilai, representing the State, as well asthe presentation, examination, andadoption of the administrative, management, and stores accounts for the2025 financial year by the Presidentof the South West Regional Assembly,Bakoma Elango Zacheus. Presenting the Assembly's report, Bakoma Elango highlighted projects implemented during the 2025 financialyear and assessed their level of execution. He noted that the institutionrecorded better results in 2025 thanin the previous year, with a significantnumber of planned projects successfullycompleted. According to the Assembly President,a total of 115 investment projects werebudgeted for in 2025. Of these, nineprojects were valued below FCFA 5million, while 106 projects were valuedat FCFA 5 million and above, representing a total budget allocation of FCFA3.166 billion. “Unlike 2024, the year2025 was more successful. We thankthe contractors who collaborated withus to accomplish these projects. Wealso encountered challenges with somecontractors. Out of the 115 projects,11 had to be withdrawn because certaincontractors failed to meet their contractual obligations. Our doors remain opento all competent contractors across thecountry. Our priority is to ensure thatprojects are completed to improve theliving conditions of our population,” Bakoma Elango stated.
