Jeune Afrique’s Assertions On Head of State: Government Debunks Hospitalisation Claims

In its online publication of Tuesday 17 June 2026, the news magazine, Jeune Afrique, asserts that the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, is admitted in a private clinic in Geneva, Switzerland, where he is undergoing medical care following a malaise he supposedly suffered during the National Day celebration of 20 May 2026. The Government of the Republic strongly debunks such an assertion, which is clearly based on malicious and unfounded speculation, and seriously undermines the fundamental principles of professional journalism. This situation is all the more deplorable given that this allegation comes from a well-established news outlet.
