Development Of Bafoussam: City Council, Stakeholders Concert

A consultation meeting to adopt a development inte­ gration approach for the city of Bafoussam, aimed at creating a wide and sustainable development space to maximise so­ cio-economic benefits for the broader Bafoussam public, held in the city on 20 August 2026. The one-day consultation meeting was organised by the Bafoussam city, and it brought together partners from the private sector, chiefs and quarter heads from all three subdivisions in Mifi, mayors and stakeholders in deve­ lopment process. Addressing participants at both ope­ ning and closing ceremonies, the mayor of the Bafoussam City Council, Tafam Roger, said the meeting was to study and have a distinctive ap­ proach to the development of the city of Bafoussam. He said from the important positions of chiefs and quarter heads in any society, the City Council thought that working together with them will provide a framework in which they can move forward together for a more equitable sustainable development plan in Ba­ foussam. Roger Tafam said the putting in place of decentralisation and transfer of competence to local authorities by President Paul Biya, was to bring the leaders of communities, ordinary people, actors of civil society and NGOs to play active roles in the de­ velopment process.
