Presidential Guard: Commander Offers Thanksgiving Service

T he first place he went to was the house of God to offer thanksgiving following his ap­ pointment and reception of his at­ tributes as General of the defence forces. This is exactly what Brigadier General Raymond Jean Charles Beko’o Abondo, Commander of the Presidential Guard did on September 25, 2026. The venue was the pitch of the football stadium located within the premises of the Presidential Guard. Before the thanksgiving service which was officiated by the Bishop of the Diocese of Obala, His Lorship, Sosthène Léopold Bayemi, the Com­ mander of the Presidential Guard reviewed the troops at the entrance of the premises. It was indeed his first as Brigadier General. It was a squad of 21 officers plus one other officer blowing the bugle. Coming down from his car which carries the flag of the Presidential Guard, he diligently inspected the troops that were commanded by Lieutenant Gara Abel Martial. Brief but majestic and ceremonial. Concerning the thanksgiving service, the first lesson was drawn from Ec­ clesiastes chapter three which high­ lights that for everything there is a season, and a time for every activity under heaven. This was equally the main message in the homily of the Bishop of Obala. The second lesson on its part was from the gospel of Luke, dwelling on the scene in which Jesus questioned his disciples on who people say he is and who his disciples also say he is. His Lorship, Sosthène Léopold Bayemi used the biblical readings to adapt the scripture to the recent times, especially with the appoint­ ment of Brigadier General Raymond Jean Charles Beko’o Abondo, whose time of recognition has come and the pertinence of getting feedback on his leadership.
