Yaounde: 17 Clandestine Colleges Closed Down

The Regional Delegate for Secondary Education for Centre shut down the schools in Mfoundi Division.

 

The 2016/2017 academic year in the Centre Region has begun with the authorities enforcing a recent decision of the Minister of Secondary Education shutting down illegal colleges. Anne Francine Ndock, the Regional Delegate for Secondary Education, on Wednesday September 9, 2016, embarked on the closure of 17 colleges in Mfoundi Division.

At the Centre Regional Delegation for Secondary Education, the entrance was crowded with proprietors and teachers of affected schools who were seeking to meet the authorities to find out about their situation. Mary Nayah, a teacher with College Genius, Nkolbisson, Yaounde, said the school submitted all the necessary documents and was waiting for the authorisation from the Ministry of Secondary Education. She said the school authorities advised parents and children to be patient, promising that classes will resume immediately the authorisation was out.

At the ISDIC Mustard Seed Anglo-Saxon College, Mballa II, the story was the same. The Principal, Nalionge Maximillanus Ewoke, said the school submitted the necessary documents in the Ministry of Secondary Education, with the Minister’s approval being awaited. He admitted that the steps tak...
