Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital: In-vitro Fertilisation Intensifies
A successful surgical operation after an IVF intervention took place yesterday at the hospital.
Mayap epouse Nguepkap Christine, aged 32, is one of those young women in Cameroon who never dreamt of having children one day in spite of their age. She was suffering from block tubes due to a medical complication that was not properly treated. But today Christine has a new song to sing after undertaking an in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) at the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital (CHRACERH) in Yaounde. After a successful nine months pregnancy, yesterday August 18, 2016 Christine through a classical surgical intervention delivered a baby girl weighing 3.4 kg with height 59 cm.
As early as 9:00 a.m. yesterday, the cry of the baby echoed loud within the premises of CHRACERH after a less than 35 minutes surgical session comprising of a medical team from Cameroon, Hôpital Intercommunal de Créteil, Paris and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Bordeaux. The Director of CHRACERH, Professor Jean Marie Kasia explained that it was a simple surgery to remove the baby not because she was conceived through an assisted medical procreation method, IVF, but because the mother of the baby was short with a height of 1:50 metres and a narrow pelvic making it impossible for the baby to be delivered normally.
