Improving Higher Education : Partnership for Better Teaching and Learning

An agreement was signed in Douala on 16 April.

A partnership agreement has been signed between the University of Ngaoundere and the United Bank of Africa – Uba. The agreement, signed in Douala on 16 April, will go a long way in enabling the University to improve its financial management and facilitate the payment of fees.  During the signing ceremony, it was revealed that the bank will improve the infrastructure of the University of Ngaoundere, establish a branch within the campus to enable students to pay fees and make other financial transactions with ease, provide students with Visa cards, among others. The Managing Director of the bank in Cameroon, Jude Anele, said the financial institution is focused on the development of humanity, especially the youth. For him, the progress of Africa depends on the youths, which is why they are fully involved in supporting student activities. He recounted that the MOU will support various student activities at the University of Ngaoundere.
For his part, the Vice Rector of the University of Ngaoundere, Prof. Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini, pointed out that they should not depend on government subsidies alone. He said the partnership with the bank will help them to secure their income and all payments will be made through it, thus reducing the payment through the university's payment office. He added that they have proposed to the bank to establish various payment centres within the campus to facilitate payments.
