Unity Tournament : Atangana, Helen Lancesseur Supreme

Some 30 players from Cameroon and abroad took part in the golf competition that ended in Nkoabe in the Nyong and So’o Division on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
It was an exceptional day at the Nkoabe Golf Club Resort on Sunday May 26, 2024. The event was the final of the first edition of the golf competition called “Unity Tournament” that took place in Nkoabe in the Nyong and So’o Division. Organised by the Nkoabe Golf Club, the competition brought together some 30 golfers from Cameroon, France, Canada and Gabon. There was equally a delegation of golfers from Brazil that was led by the Cameroon Embassy in Brazil and sponsors.
Among the players were the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Promoter of the Nkoabe Golf Club, Grégoire Owona and Drouin Francis, President of ‘Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie’ (APF). The competition was in line with celebrations marking the 52nd anniversary of the Unity Day in Cameroon. For two days, inhabitants of Nkoabe and elsewhere had an opportunity to discover new technics in the sport. At the end of the competition, Christophe Atangana from the SNH Golf Club emerged as the best player of the tournament. In the women’s competition, Helen Lancesseur from the Yaounde Golf Club was the best. In the junior series, Dilan Atangana was the first. In the senior men’s series, Minister Grégoire Owona was the best. Team captain, Patrick Foe said the results were satisfactory. It means experience played a great role. “Many participants played well both from Cameroon and abroad,” he said.
The Vice President of the Nkoabe Golf Club, Oumarou Ahmadou said the tournament was a way of celebrating the National Unity Day. He said the objective of the competition is to promote the practice of golf in the country. He said the o...
