Paralympic Games 2024 : Time For Evaluation

A meeting to review Team Cameroon's participation in the competition took place in Yaounde on Tuesday October 1, 2024.

Cameroonian athletes participated in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France in three disciplines. These include Para Taekwondo, Para Athletics and Para powerlifting. After finishing the competition without wining any medals, it is time for evaluation. In this light, a meeting to review Team Cameroon's participation in the Paris Games took place at the headquarters of the National Paralympic Committee in Yaounde on Tuesday October 1, 2024. Speaking at the occasion the President of the federation said he is satisfied with the performances and tolerance of the athletes. He explained that during the qualifications, five athletes qualified. He said he believes that Cameroon’s participation was not bad and he believes that the athletes will do better next time and win medals for the country. 
The Inspector General in charge of Service at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education who was the head of delegation, Michel Dissake said the Ministry is already strategizing with the Paralympic Committee to ensure that Cameroon gets on the podium in the 2028 edition in Los Angeles in the USA. 
Out of the five athletes that participated in the Paris Paralympic Games, four were awarded Certificate of Excellence by the International Paralympic Committee. In para power lifting, Mengue Thamar Gisèle lifted 108kg (-73kg) category. She got a certificate of excellence after finishing fifth in the world.
